Recently I shared our annual Halloween pumpkin carving party and promised to share the DIY for all the fun balloon crafts I created, starting with the DIY balloon placecards. This party is one of my favorites to host each year. The kids love all the bright decorations, scooping the goop out of pumpkins, roasting s’mores and, not to mention, running around our yard with all their friends one last time before the weather turns cold. Of course, I admit, my husband and I really love to sip hot cider by the fire with our friends too. I hope this is one of those traditions that never fades.
These DIY jack-o-lantern balloon placecards are super simple to whip up and the kids love them. I mean, who doesn’t want to see their name on a balloon. {wink} The most important thing you’ll need to make this super fun and easy craft, Balloon Time a helium tank.
In addition to the Balloon Time helium tank, you’ll need:
- Balloons
- Baker’s Twine
- Washi Tape
- Black Vinyl
- Scissors & Font/Jack-o-lantern Stencil
- Optional: Or, if you have a Cricut, you can use my die cut template and cut these out in a snap. Jack-o-Lantern faces and Font.
TIP: You can always cut out your vinyl and prep all the supplies days in advance, but I suggest that you wait one hour before the party to blow up your balloons.
And the simple DIY steps:
- Plan Design – To start you’ll want your design/font to be no larger than 4″ wide and 4″ tall.
- Cut – If cutting with scissors, make a template or use a stencil and trace it out with a pencil. If using a Cricut, use my files linked above.
- Helium – Now blow up balloons.
- Apply design – It’s as simple as peel and stick.
- Attach to table – Finally, tie with baker’s twine and affix to the table with colorful washi tape in an X shape.
By the way, I placed the child’s name on one side and the jack-o-lantern faces on the other. I didn’t want the balloons to look blank from any angle as they danced around on the table. {grin}
Next I’ll share with you how to make that fun balloon bat wall you see behind me. Also, I’ll give away my bat templates so you can make your own.
When crafting with balloons, you need and WANT your helium right in the craft room. Balloon Time is the answer. It makes creating and testing your ideas before the party super easy. And by the way, it’s much more economical than running to the party store!
