My hubby was in the Air Force, along with his brothers and dad, so Americana party décor gets a lot of use around my house with Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day celebrations. Whether or not our boys will serve remains to be seen, but we want them to have a strong sense of country and the sacrifices that others make for us daily so that we can live free.
Long story short, patriotic holidays are not only celebrated, but truly a time of thankfulness and remembrance for our family.
This year, I shopped World Market’s Americana collection (Outdoor Entertaining, Outdoor Furniture) for our 4th of July BBQ and then meandered over to their linens section to add a few extra touches! The pewter placemats may be my favorite. I chose them, along with the gray and white paper straws because they reminded me of sparklers. One of my favorites from childhood 4th of July picnics, and a fast growing favorite with my boys. They’ve gone through two boxes in the past week!
And if you know me, you know I love paper goods to bring a pop to my tables. I found these fun and creative Americana Meri Meri cupcake tins and toppers at World Market, along with this wire dessert stand. It’s the perfect way to bring some height to your table.
An easy way to make a table feel cozy and inviting outdoors, is to hang lanterns. World Market has the lighting kits so you could bring them alive if you’re celebrating at night! I also had to have the little nutcracker. Or, I should say, my son just had to have it! {grin}
And, especially when serving guests outdoors, you need service trays. This one pulled in both of my major colors, red and pewter. LOVE it for carrying all the supplies to set up the table and then later to serve dessert.
Did you know that World Market isn’t only about home décor and entertaining supplies? They also have a large food and wine section. I’m excited to say that I made an amazing White Strawberry, Lemon and Apple Sangria with World Market’s Castaneda White Sangria!
Ingredients

2 lemons, thinly sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced thicker and halved for garnish

1 apple, sliced long-way (Gala or Fuji, a crisp apple, works best)

1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced lengthwise

1 liter White Sangria Castaneda (available at World Market)
Instructions
- Add lemon slices, apples, and strawberries to pitcher.
- Pour the sangria over top.
- Cover and place in the refrigerator for 4 – 5 hours.
- Add a lemon slice to each glass and pour sangria over to serve!
