Sharing more of my “What Will It Bee” gender reveal baby shower today. Next up are scallop paper placecards and food tents. My favorite part of this card is that the bee has a die cut around the wing so when you fold the card it pops up!
This is all part of my new Cricut paper craft collection. In just a few clicks you can personalize the card, have the Cricut Explore pen feature script a lovely font, print on your home printer and have the machine cut!
Since Cricut makes those intricate cuts so easily, I chose to make the edges a pretty little scallop. With a normal printable that bee wing popping up would be next to impossible! Or it would at least test your patience. {wink}
Let’s get crafty and make a few. You’ll need:
- Cricut Explore™ machine
- Cricut Design Space™ software
- 12”x12” Standard Grip Cricut® mat
- White Cardstock
- Cricut Scoring Stylus
- Cricut Moccasin Pen (or you could “flatten” the image in Design Space and just print the font with the card)
Easy instructions and MAKE IT NOW in Design Space:
- Prep – add fonts to the design. I used the Cricut Access Elizabeth font.
- Print – Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to print then cut the images onto white cardstock. (Tip: Choose “photo quality” in your printer settings for the best color saturation.)
- Score, write and cut – apply printed design to Cricut mat, insert scoring stylus and score. The machine will then tell you to remove stylus and insert pen. It will write all your text and then cut.
- Fold – take the cards off the mat and carefully fold along the score line allowing the bee wing to pop up!
Cutting these cards and bees out by hand would take forever, but the Cricut buzzes them out in a minute or two. (I know… shameless puns! :) The individual bees, a buzzing bee (with trail) and the straw slips are all available too! For all the individual print/cut and cut designs in this baby shower collection, go to Design Space, open a new project and search “Kim Byers” under cartridges. You can also hop over to my Kim Byers brand page with Cricut to see some “make it now” projects using all of the elements in the set too.
Here’s a look at the coordinating party paper crafts in my gender reveal baby shower collection including the easily customizable scallop invitation and thank you set too.

Don’t have a Cricut yet? I was an early adopter of Cricut, way back when. I actually still have my original machine. She was used to the end of her life and I can’t seem to part with her! Now, I use the Cricut Explore Air exclusively. I mean, once you go wifi there is no going back, right?! {wink} But of course the standard Cricut Explore works perfectly too. Long story short, for the price of a good pair of scissors and a few punches, you can own a Cricut. I encourage you to at least hop over to Design Space and see all the amazing things you can make!
As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
