Hi there friends! It’s no secret that I love using paper to elevate any event and today I’m going to show you a few paper crafts to decorate your kids’ Thanksgiving table with paper, that amazing creative medium that can be anything with a few snips, folds, glue and ink. The table will be lovely, and the kids will be busy with a project that keeps them out of your kitchen! {wink} Plus, sitting at the kid’s table has never been quite so cool!
I developed a love of paper at a very young age. I loved to draw, cut, glitter and glue… it wasn’t always pretty {wink}, but sometimes it was and it was always completely mine. As an adult, now I design and print my creations on paper. I just love that with a little imagination, paper can become anything!
I share this little peek into my soul because when The Paper & Packaging – How Life Unfolds ™ campaign asked me to share my thoughts on paper and its importance in this ever changing world, I honestly almost teared up.
Why Send A Paper Invitation
I can promise you that your guests will smile when they open your paper invitation. They will pour over the printed words, lovely graphics, and eight out of 10 times they will put it on their refrigerator or family-center board for all to see. It’s just the nature of people not to throw such lovely things away and therefore it remains a constant reminder of your upcoming gathering!
Decorate The Thanksgiving Table
Paper for parties does not end with the invitation, especially when you’re talking kid Thanksgiving Day tables! For a few dollars you can decorate an inviting table that will have the kids anxious to sit down. Here’s a closer look at how my kids’ table will be decorated this year.
We always have place cards for two reasons. First, they make the kids feel special and included because our adults table has pretty (yes paper!) place cards too. Second, my boys like to get to choose where all their cousins sit. {grin}
Every kids’ Thanksgiving table needs a little treat to keep them sitting while dinner is being served. This year I designed cornucopia wrappers (aka waffle cone wrappers) to stuff with treats like caramel popcorn and mini pumpkins. Without the paper, these treats wouldn’t be quite so cute!

These quick paper crafts are easy. You’ll just need printer paper, scissors, glue dots and waffle cones (I prefer these over the skinnier sugar cones, plus you can stuff more treats in them!).
Once you’ve printed my free download, cut out each design, wrap around a waffle cone, secure the edges with three glue dots and fill with treats. It’s that quick!
Choose darling place settings to call the kids in. Placemats that double as coloring sheets are always a positive. When we’re talking kids’ Thanksgiving tables, you can even extend your love of paper to the plates and napkins. I scored these pretties, and I’m in love with the color palette.
Why stop with the table? Paper is great for dressing up the walls too!

Letters To Dad – Paper And Packaging Board
For our family, Thanksgiving is a time to gather and be thankful. Unfortunately not everyone gets the luxury of gathering during the holidays, especially our service men and women. Have you seen this commercial? As a wife to a veteran and a mom of two boys, I can relate to how something as simple and inexpensive as paper, can make a huge impact in someone’s life. Watch:
