We planned a Father’s Day surprise for my hubby! See, he was born on Father’s Day in 19… okay… I’m not allowed to tell you what year. Just know it was Father’s Day. {wink} So it was really a joint Father’s Day and birthday surprise. Afterwards we took him to the movies too. Lucky guy!
Today’s ideas are sponsored by Cold Stone Creamery.
My boys helped me plan what we wanted to do for him. The biggest thing they wanted, was for their dad to know how very much they love him. Sweet babies!
After making it obvious that he is our #1 DAD, we wanted to get his favorite treat. ICE CREAM!!
And this amazing Tall, Dark & Delicious (don’t you love the name!) cake from Cold Stone Creamery is layers of moist Devil’s Food Cake, Sweet Cream Ice Cream with Brownies & Chocolate Ice Cream with OREO® Cookies wrapped in fluffy White Frosting and cascading Fudge Ganache… oh my! Let me tell you, Dad will feel very loved!
Want one for Father’s Day or any upcoming occasion? It’s so easy to order. You can do it online at ColdStoneCakes.com! I ordered mine and picked it up the next day. They often have some right in the freezer case, but with so many flavors it’s best to order online so you know they have what you want.
Now for the Father’s Day table. It was a fun set-up. We chose blue and silver as our color palette and it was perfect for my hubby. Plus my kids couldn’t get enough of the balloons. There would have been more but I had to stop them. {wink} We also added waffle cone cups since that is our preferred ice cream plate of choice. And it wouldn’t be a party for dad without root beer, so we made some little necktie wrappers for them.
I have to admit, my favorite party craft was adding the messages to the balloons. The balloons and the #1 DAD on the wall gave it that extra special touch. My hubby really loved it. I’ll share how I did it, along with the files so you can do it too in a post on Wednesday.
You can keep up with Cold Stone Creamery and all their amazing flavors on Twitter and Instagram. By the way, they love talking to customers so make sure you say hi!

Kim I love how simple this is, yet there are so many details at the same time. Such a fun, festive setting!
Thanks Chris! My kids really wanted to make it “fun” for dad. My guy is a little laid back and this really made him smile! :)
You had me at “ganache,” and “ice cream” sent me over the edge. YUM!!! And what a gorgeous presentation! I love the details that you added to the balloons, too. So fun! I’m sure he loved it! :)
Jennifer – it is truly to die for! And the kids loved making the balloons for him. It really was a great afternoon. Plus, I printed the pics of the boys for him for his office. Now he has proof they think is #1!
Your decorating is PERFECT! It’s cute for the gals to like it and understated enough to not overwhelm dad. :) I think ice cream cake is the perfect cake for celebrations.
Sharon – usually I share cake with friends and neighbors, send it to the office, etc. Not this time! This one is just tooooooo goood. ;)
This dad theme is awesome, I like the blue and white colors. This could also be used for a 4th of july theme party! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Dawn! Happy Daddy’s Day!
