I love a white Christmas! When I was little growing up in Alabama I dreamed of a white Christmas, which I never got. Now we live in Ohio and I see too much of it. {wink} But regardless of my location, I love decorating in white and this year a bit of silver and red too!
For a project with HGTV and JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores, for the annual HGTV holiday house, I created a Christmas mantel with lots of woody and natural elements. This wool wrapped “JOY” lettering and “to the world” ball were my favorite elements.
To make the JOY letters and ball, you’ll need:
- Icicle White Wool
- Kraft covered letters (12″ J, 8″ O and Y)
- Elmer’s Glue (dries clear)
- 3″ Styrofoam ball
- Straight pin
- Kraft paper (just a few strips so you could use a brown paper bag if it’s handy)
- Letter stamps and stamp pad
Easy how to steps:
- For letters – Start at the base of the letters, wrapping and gluing every inch.
- For the ball –
- Wrap Styrofoam ball with yarn and end with a straight pin to hold the yarn in place
- Cut Kraft paper into 3/4″ x 3″ strips
- Stamp “to the world”
- Trim triangle out of each end
- Attach to ball with straight pin
I was very excited about how it turned out. So much so that I want to wrap everything in that wool. It is so very soft! LOVE!
I’ll share more details about my Christmas mantel this week so stay tuned!
As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
