Have you heard of the Cricut Explore Air? It’s the newest member of the Cricut family and it’s opened the door to truly being creative on the go. I personally get inspired in the oddest places… like the grocery store… but I also get inspired when I run across a beautiful fabric at my local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store.
In either case, the new Cricut Design Space app for iPad® and the Cricut Explore Air, allow me to design on the go. I can whip out my iPad, which is almost always with me, quickly pull ideas onto a new mat, hit save and finish the project when I get home. No more forgetting that amazing craft idea that popped into your head while buying pineapples. {wink}
This is a quick shot of a corner in my office. Doesn’t my Explore fit right in?! I mean, functional and pretty!
What’s different you ask? If you’re familiar with the Cricut Explore, just know it’s the Explore, but better. The Cricut Explore Air™ still precisely cuts a wide variety of materials from paper to iron-on to adhesive vinyl—even thick materials like leather and burlap! But this machine features built-in Bluetooth® for wireless cutting, a dual carriage to cut and write in just one step, and free cloud-based design software for your computer and iPad®. YIPPEE!
Why should you care about the iPad app and wireless? Well, there is always loving not having more cords to hide. {grin} But in my opinion, I’m much faster from design, to cut with the iPad app. Let’s face it, we love touching screens over moving mouses, don’t we!
For instance, I whipped this fun “hello” vinyl wall decal up in about 10 minutes. From setting it up, to cutting it out, to using transfer paper to attach it to the wall above one of my craft tables! Yep… 10 minutes! (Make this HELLO wall decal now in Cricut Design Space!)
Can I start on my iPad and finish on my computer? Absolutely! The easy-to-use Cricut Design Space software system gives you access to all of your images and projects from any compatible computer or iPad®. It’s cloud-based, so your projects are always synced across all your devices.
Do I really design and set up projects on the go? I do, I truly do. If your family is anything like mine, you’re always on the go. I personally have two boys and we stay in sports almost all year round. Admittedly I love watching them play sports so it’s not as painful as it sounds, but there is a lot of down time at practice. Now, with the new iPad app and my Cricut Explore Air, I can design my next project while away from home and cut, write, score and print when I get back home. I feel productive and I don’t miss a moment of my boys!
I’ll be creating some really fun projects with my Cricut Explore Air over the next few weeks and showing you just how easy it is.
I’ll also be hosting a few fun giveaways so make sure you stick around. I’d love to put a Cricut Explore Air in your hands!
Or, you can hop over to your local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and pick one up along with Cricut vinyl, pens, iron-on goodies and more!
As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!

OMG… This Cricut Air sounds divine…. How i would love to own one. Looking forward to all the projects you will be sharing with it.
Kathy – and I can’t wait to share. I just whipped up a fun Easter gift and posting it today! And today I’m making Easter buckets for my boys. I just can’t stop! :)
With the iPad app, does the iPad need an Internet signal to work? Or does it work without Internet after downloading the app? Thank you!
Hi Cathleen! The app doesn’t need Internet connection to play around and design once you have the images you want off the cloud. It does however need internet connection to print/score/cut. Trust me, you’ll love it. The app, in my opinion, is easier. I like the desktop version, but there is something about curling up on the couch and tapping the screen that makes the whole creative process seem more organic. ;)
Hope this helps!
I just got the Cricut Explore for Christmas. What is the difference between that and the new Air? Mine isn’t even out of the box yet!
Hi Dana! No worries! You have the latest and greatest, with a small addition. ;) There is actually no difference in the Explore and the Air if you purchase the bluetooth adapter. The new Air just has the bluetooth built in. So for people purchasing a new Explore, the Air is the way to go. And you my friend need to pull that Explore out of the box! It’s so easy and you’ll love it.

Once you do, I’d love to see what you make. Feel free to share with me on facebook, or tag me if you post something on instagram. :)
i purchased my Explore as soon as it cam out, the Anna Griffin one. I later purchased the Bluetooth when the iPad app came out. What is the difference between my Explore with the Bluetooth and the new Explore Air?
Hi Brenda! There is actually no difference. The new Air just has the bluetooth built in. So for people purchasing a new Explore, the Air is the way to go. I’d love to see what you’re making with yours. Feel free to share with me on facebook, or tag me if you post something on instagram. :)
Excited to see what you come up with
Thanks Dee! I’m working on some fun Easter pails and then I’m making a new vinyl design for my son’s room. Can’t wait to share!
This is really amazing what the Cricut Air can do, I have the older model but it so amazing this must be super wow. I’m excited to see what else you will be making. Thank you for sharing.
Kymi – if you love your Cricut, the Air is worth the upgrade! :)
