Who loves decorating pumpkins?! If you raised your hand, my next question is, do you love carving them? Pulling out all the icky goop?! Well, I love decorating pumpkins, but I’m more of a no-carve pumpkin decorating kinda girl. {grin} Don’t get me wrong, we carve pumpkins with my boys every year. As a matter of fact, we’re carving 10lb pumpkins tonight, but it makes me sad when they get all icky and collapse so I have to make a few pretty pumpkins that I can keep year to year too!
This year I wanted black and white pumpkins and black and orange striped pumpkins for my front porch area to go with my Countdown to Halloween pallet. Let’s start with the striped pumpkins. Whatcha think?
Scotch Blue Painters Tape is the best for making all kinds of designs. I hear there is even “shape tape” now!
Once taped off, just hang them from a branch and paint. I recommend three light coats to keep down any dripping. And to hang, I used garden tape (you could also use ribbon) and a short nail. Just tie the tape to the nail, insert the nail in the underside of the pumpkin opening and tie to a tree.
Allow to dry, peel off tape and you’re done!
Now, for the fun face and typography no-carve pumpkins, hop over to my most recent post with Parade Magazine. I share the full tutorial. It’s super easy and your kiddos can help!
