Let’s make a OH MY STARS patriotic cake topper perfect for the fourth of July or any red white and blue holiday!
Two things I do a lot. One, say “Oh My Stars!” And two… eat cake! So in honor of this amazing holiday, Independence Day, I designed a pretty little patriotic cake topper for all your parties!
And, since I had to show it to you on a cake… I made cake. {grin} My kids actually said this was the best cake I’ve ever made. I’m not sure exactly how to take that since there was no actual baking involved, but then they clarified that I make the best Rice Krispies Treats ever. {wink}
Why I Designed This Oh My Stars Cake Topper
If you’re wondering why I chose “Oh My Stars” for the cake topper, besides the obvious patriotic reference… it’s also my favorite phrase. If you didn’t know, I’m a southern girl. And “Oh My Stars” and sweet tea go together like 4th of July picnics and fireworks. {grin}
Supplies For Rice Krispies Treats Cake
• Wilton Easy 6-Layer Cake Pans
• Wilton Patriotic Sprinkles
• Optional: Wilton Sparkler Candles
• Cake – Jar of marshmallow cream, 2 bags marshmallows, box Rice Krispies and butter
How To Make A Rice Krispies Treats Cake
- Make Rice Krispies Treats – you’ll need two batches, or at least I do because I love my Rice Krispies Treats to be messy and gooey. Just follow the directions on the marshmallow bag.
- Butter pans and your hands – while Rice Krispies Treats are still warm, mold them into the pans. Allow them to cool completely.
- Stack – start with a little marshmallow cream on the cake plate to keep the cake from sliding. As you stack the layers, place a ring of marshmallow cream on the outer lip of each layer to give that running ooey gooey goodness look!
- Insert & sprinkle – insert cake topper in cake and sprinkle edges with Wilton patriotic blend
Craft Oh My Stars Cake Topper
For this cake topper you’ll want your Cricut Explore or your Cricut Maker and some photo paper (I just love the glossy look).
You’ll need your Cricut because my Oh My Stars cake topper is part of my Oh My Stars Cricut cartridge!

Note that I used two 10” or 12” skewer and cut them in half, then attached them to back of topper with washi tape.
