patriotic inspiration

As we’re all gearing up for a fabulous long weekend, I thought I would share a few last minute ideas for desserts:

• American flag cupcakes– I dreamed these up last year for our July 4 family gathering. They were a huge hit, especially with the kids. 
• Berry Lemon Cheesecake Squares from Pillsbury – all I can say here is YUM!
• Patriotic Cookie Pizza from Pillsbury – I can see my boys helping out with this one. It has two of their favorite ingredients, blueberries and cookies! {smirk}

And a few DIY decorating ideas:

• Flag banner from Martha Stewart and July 4 banner from Better Homes and Gardens – attach fabric (with stiffener) or colorful cardstock to ribbon and you have a fun and easy decoration
• Bunting from Better Homes and Gardens – I love how easy this is, a piece of fabric and ties!
• Patriotic pinwheels in tin watering cans from Better Homes and Gardens – I just have a thing for pinwheels!
