Every summer we grow a little garden in the backyard. It’s not big at all, but my hubby has a green thumb so it really thrives and produces a ton of tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers… and this year we’re even trying cantaloupe and carrots. The kids really love it!
And as you can probably guess, we eat from it as long as it produces. It’s wonderful to run out in the backyard and grab all the fresh goodies to make a salad. And since the kids watch it all grow, they’re excited to eat from it… another advantage to growing your own. {grin}
So for us, the perfect summer side is our own personal homegrown salad. I prep them in little cups while the hubby grills up some Hebrew National All-Beef Franks and maybe some grilled corn on the cob. We of course can’t grow corn in our little backyard garden {wink}, but there are tons of farmers markets around where we can pick up fresh!
And if you’re wondering why Hebrew National, it’s much the same reason as the garden salad. There is nothing more important to me than my family and Hebrew National has my confidence. Do you ever wonder what makes Hebrew National kosher hot dogs premium? It’s all about what makes the cut (and what doesn’t). They’re choosy about what goes into their franks – using only premium cuts of 100% kosher beef from the front half of the cow and then choose the best from that. No artificial flavors, colors, fillers or by-products. I’d have it no other way for my family!
Wanna see a pic of my little garden? It’s kind of hard to see, but the entire area to the right is the garden. And that is my pergola, that my sweet hubby built for me, covered in wisteria in the background. And the vine that has gone crazy in the foreground… those are cucumbers. We went away for a week on vacation and came back to them taking over. We reined them back in, but they’re still over in the yard. We have to hold them up to mow. {grin}
Oh, and did you see how I grilled with Hebrew National for a fun summer brunch?
You’ve got to hop over and have a look. The kids loved it! And I have to say, I did too! {grin}
