I love this time of year… family, friends and food. It doesn’t get any better! And even the smallest party goers need a fun table to sit down at in my opinion. {wink} All of the ideas in my Thanksgiving Kid’s Table this year are simple. Most can be crafted quickly and you can get all the supplies at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores. Let’s get crafty and go through each detail!
My favorite elements of my Thanksgiving Kid’s Table this year are the mini polka dot table runners trimmed in silver specialty thread. I just love the metallic dots in this JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores specialty fabric. Who said kid tables couldn’t also be a bit glamorous anyway… {grin}
Make your own table runner. You’ll need:
- Surger
- Specialty metallic thread
- Specialty polka dot fabric exclusively at JoAnn
- Clear ruler
- Self-healing cutting mat
- Rotary cutter
Easy steps:
Measure your plates and table width (you don’t want the plate sitting lopsided because it’s hanging over a runner). Then using a rotary cutter, clear ruler so you can see easily and self-healing mat, cut the fabric to size.
For surging, check your manual because there are usually special instructions for thicker specialty threads. With my surger, I used a 3-thread overlock stitch with the specialty thread in the upperlooper only and regular gray/silver threads in other two spots. It took less than five minutes to whip up!
My next favorite might just be the Gobble Gobble cake topper and feather garland. I’ll share how to make it and all the other festive elements you see throughout the week!
Gobble! Gobble! And as always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
