Decorating Ugly Sweater Cookies
Now that you’ve gathered all your cookie decorating goodies, let’s get started. Ugly sweater cookies are a cinch to make because there are no rules! However, there are a few cookie baking tips I’d like for you to remember.
Prepare your dough the right way. No matter if you use grandma’s sugar cookie recipe, or one out of a box, make sure you do these two things:
- roll it a consistent thickness each time, and
- chill it.
If the dough is all the same thickness, every cookie on the sheet will cook at the same rate and you’re less likely to burn your sweaters.
If you chill the dough, it will hold it’s shape and you’re less likely to have blob cookies. {wink}
Packaging Ugly Sweater Cookie Invitations
Now that you have perfectly decorated cookies, let’s package them up and get them out to your guests! I picked up a few more supplies at my local Cost Plus World Market. If you’ve not shopped a store before, you’re missing out. They have food, kitchen, gift, furniture and even a great wine and beer selection. I chose to go with mini champagne bottles. I have a thing for minis! And since I’m inviting only six couples to our Ugly Sweater Party, I wanted to do something a little special to get them excited for the fun night ahead!
- Mini Baskets
- Shredded Tissue Paper (in store)
- Mini Christmas Cookie Cutters
- Mini Korbel Bottles
- Ribbon (in store)
- DIY Invitation
Packaging these darling ugly sweater cookies is super simple. Grab mini wire baskets and fill them with shredded paper. Snuggle a mini Korbel bottle next to your cookie. Next, type basic party details and print. Cut them into strips and tie them to the front of the basket with curly ribbon and a mini cookie cutter. Guests will be so excited to attend!
