Show your patriotism and make my Proud To Live In The Home Of The Brave DIY T-shirt for all those patriotic holidays: 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day and just plain everyday. We should be proud of our military men and women! Let’s make one!

DIY Tee - Proud To Live In The Home Of The Brave | Kim Byers

You only need a few materials to create this tee. My design is layered so you can use a number of colors if you’d like!

Here are the items I used to create this Americana DIY T-Shirt:

  • T-shirt
  • Proud To Live In The Home Of The Brave diecut
  • White Iron-On
  • Cricut Explore™ machine
  • Cricut Design Space™ software (iPad app, iPhone app or Desktop)
  • 12”x12” Standard Grip Cricut® mat
  • Cricut Weeding Tool
  • Iron

Super simple how to steps or use my MAKE IT NOW project in Design Space:

  1. Measure – measure your T-shirt. Depending on the cut of your shirt you may want to lay your shirt flat, measure it across, divide it to find your center point, and determine if you’d like the image larger or smaller.
  2. Design – use my Make It Now or swap out the iron-on colors and layer the design.
  3. Mat – apply the iron-on, liner side down, to the mat.
  4. Cut – read the directions on the package, but make sure that you absolutely “Mirror-Image” your cut or you’ll need to look in a mirror to read it. {wink}
  5. Weed – weed out all the iron-on that isn’t your image. This takes a bit of patience, but it’s worth it.
  6. Iron – iron your shirt to heat up the fabric, place the image with liner on top, iron in 15 second intervals. It’s a good idea to flip the shirt (once you think design is set) and iron the back too just to make sure. Take your time!

(Care Tip: Wash the shirt inside out and on gentle. Or, wash the shirt in a bag.)
