The summer is full of red, white and blue holidays and my family loves celebrating and showing our patriotism for all of them! Invite your guests to a 4th of July bash, Labor Day BBQ, or a Memorial Day picnic with my latest invitation design! There is even a version for that Baby BBQ gender reveal. You know, BaByQ. {wink}
I think the fireworks, yes, even over the food, are my favorite part of our 4th of July celebration. There is just nothing like laying on the grass with a fluffy blanket, sipping something cold and watching the night sky light up with brilliant colors while fireflies dance around. My kids, the hubby and I always ooh and aah at each pop in the sky!
This red, white and blue invitation is part of my new patriotic collection with Cricut. The set includes several cut elements, as well as several print then cut. Hop over to my Oh My Stars! Cricut cartridge to see everything in the set. You can also get project idea by browsing my Make It Now projects.
For the envelope, I used the new red and blue Cricut vellum sheets. They give it that shimmer. Love vellum! And the assembly was super simple with glue dots. I also designed a cute little RSVP card. The guest just writes their name in and mails it back in a mini vellum envelope.
Let’s make an invitation and envelope. You’ll need:
- Cricut Explore™ machine
- Cricut Design Space™ software (iPad app, iPhone app or Desktop)
- 12”x12” Standard Grip Cricut® mat
- Cricut Tools Scoring Stylus
- Red Cricut Vellum
- Blue Cricut Vellum
- White cardstock
- Printer
- Glue dots
Easy DIY steps or use my Make It Now project in Design Space:
- Personalize – open the design, add and size your text. I suggest easy to read font. Once done, select the invitation and font in Layers, and choose Flatten.
- Print then Cut – Follow the instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to print then cut the images onto white cardstock. Set aside. Continue to score and cut the envelope and liner from vellum. Tip: Choose “photo quality” in your printer settings for the best color saturation. Always make sure “Fit To Page” is not selected. It can hinder your machine’s ability to read the cut marks.
- Assemble – Fold envelope at score lines and secure with glue dots. Tip: This invite has two layers so you can easily change the blue stripe background pattern. My patriotic collection offers a red gingham and a blue gingham pattern, or you can choose from hundreds of Cricut patterns.
