Can you believe it’s back to school season?! I’m not ready to start buying new notebooks and backpacks just yet (give me at least another week), but I am starting to think about fun food ideas to ease my kids into what’s coming.
So in honor of one of their favorite books when they were little, let’s make Dr. Seuss’ Apples Up On Top apple pretzels. You know the book right? I’m sure it’s the fun and zany way I read Dr. Suess… or maybe it’s the rhythm and rhyme of the stories, but my kids love all Dr. Seuss books! {wink}
No matter your kiddos ages, this is a food craft that little fingers can help you make, doubles as an activity (you can read the story and stack the apples), and when you finish they’re a tasty snack.
You’ll need a few supplies to make this back to school fun food:
- Pretzel chips
- Red melting chocolates
- Green leaf or holly sprinkles
- Toothpicks
A few easy how to steps:
- Place pretzels on wax paper.
- Top with one to two melting chocolates depending on if you have regular size or bite size pretzels.
- Heat in microwave for 8 second intervals, three to four times until melted.
- Use a toothpick to spread chocolate around.
- Finish with leaf sprinkle.
