Root Beer Floats & Family Game Night

Wednesday night is our family game night. It’s a great way for us to slow down and really laugh and talk about our week. Honestly there is lot of good-natured competitiveness and a bit of smack talk too. {giggle} For family games we switch it up among about 25 board games we’ve collected over the years. But no matter the game, one thing is always a constant. Our family game night tradition is to make amazing treats. Our latest obsession are A&W® Root Beer Floats!

My kids are big root beer fans. They only have soda once a week or so, and when we do they almost always choose root beer, which makes me super happy. Did you know that root beer is caffeine free?! Yep! Perfect sweet treat without bouncing off the walls. {wink}

The original A&W Root Beer Floats, you know, with premium vanilla ice cream topped with fizzing cold root beer topped with a little whip cream, are my favorite. Well, my kiddos like to get a bit more inventive. This crazy, but amazingly yummy, float has a few more ingredients. I encourage you… no, I dare you, to try one. {snicker}

For the Hot Fudge Root Beer Floats (my son’s name for them), you’ll need a few things from Meijer:

• A&W Root Beer (regular or diet)
• Premium Vanilla Ice Cream
• Hot Fudge
• Whip Cream
• Banana
• Peanuts

I know what you’re thinking… but the salty and sweet works. The “how to” is simple, add and layer until it’s about to overflow out of your glass! {wink} What’s your favorite topping to add to your A&W Float?
