Candy corn is my all time favorite fall sweet! It makes me think of my childhood. Rice Krispies Treats are a close second! So why not combine the two?! Candy Corn Shaped Rice Krispies Treats! {grin}

Candy Corn Shaped Rice Krispies Treats | Kim Byers

Ingredients & Tools:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1 bag of marshmallows
  • 1/2 stick butter (or Smart Balance Vegan for Dairy-Free equvelant; I never use as much as the box recipe calls for)
  • White icing
  • Yellow and orange gel food coloring
  • #7 icing tip and connector
  • Resealable bag
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Icing bottles
  • Toothpicks
  • Optional: cello bags and ribbon

Easy How To Steps for Making Candy Corn Shaped Rice Krispies Treats:

  1. Make your treats as directed on the box.
  2. While the treats are still warm mold them into triangles and insert lollipop sticks. (Tip: Do this before you ice them or you could crack your icing, plus you want to form the treat back around the stick so that there aren’t too many pockets of air.)
  3. Gently push down, don’t crush the cereal, on the top of your treats. You’ll want a flat surface, or as flat as you can get it, for icing.
  4. Using a #7 tip, a connector and a resealable bag, outline your treats with white icing, leaving no gaps or your icing will run. Outline the outer edges and divide the shape into three for all three colors.
  5. Melt a small bowl of white, yellow and orange icing (one at a time) in eight second intervals. Carefully pipe (a icing bottle is best, but a spoon will work) the icing into the sections and pull icing to the corners with a toothpick. (TIP: You want your icing warm, but not too hot and soupy or it will re-melt your marshmallows and the Rice Krispies will fall apart.)
  6. Allow Rice Krispies Treats to dry completely (three or so hours) before inserting them into cello bags.

I love candy corn so much we even created an entire Halloween party supplies collection to celebrate it! And Better Homes and Gardens thought it was pretty cool too because they featured the collection in their Tricks and Treats Special Issue! {proud moment}

And because I love Rice Krispies Treats so much here are a few other yummy Halloween inspired treats:   Easy Frankenstein Pull-a-part Rice Krispies Cake and Pumpkin Shaped Rice Krispies Treats.
