Need fun and creative ways to help your kids with math practice this summer? Ideas to keep your kiddos entertained AND learning?
The Celebration Shoppe is hosting a series of crafts for kids. Today is our third installment, math practice for kids. Make sure you check out our first two roundups too: 10 outdoor summer crafts for kids and 12 science crafts for kids.
My middle child, a.k.a my drama queen, has just recently learned her division facts. Not bad for a rising 3rd grader {proud mama grin}. But the accomplishment made me think about what other fun math craft ideas we could find to keep her growing this summer.
There’s no shortage of talented mommies who share some magnificent math practice and craft ideas:
- Make Your Own Abacus via Homeschooling Hearts and Minds uses household items and helps little ones understand place values.
- Pumpkin Pie Fractions via Almost Unschoolers is a great visual for early fractions
- Lemonade Stand via Family Education combines money lessons and good old fashioned fun!
- Don’t Get Zapped {game} via Teach Beside Me can be tailored for any math facts, even for older kids.
- Hopscotch via A Girl and a Glue Gun may look like just a felt game, but it can easily be changed to a face-paced math quiz. Have your child(ren) add, subtract, multiply or divide the numbers she jumps on.
I’m sure I’ll be reciting math facts in my sleep this week {smirk}
- Lego Math Fun via Kids Acitivities Blog uses Legos to stretch those minds.
- Rock Counting via Thrive 360 Living is fantastic for little ones learning to count or write numbers. (and I love anything that can travel with me and my brood!)
- Milk Cap Math via love2learn2day keep your kiddo on his math facts toes!
- Juice Can Lid Play Money via Crafitments teaches all about money and coin values
- Paper Plate Math and Alphabet Game via Kiwi Crate is a simple, but effective tool for teaching
- Sudoku Printables via kid giddy uses shape identification and the popular puzzle to engage school-aged kiddos.
- Walking Water via play based learning; OK, so technically this is a science experiment, but I love the measurement component as a math concept, too!
