One of my favorite things during the holiday season is opening the mailbox to beautiful Christmas cards from family and friends. This year I’ll be showcasing their lovely cards on a DIY Christmas card holder ribbon tree.
To show you how to make this simple ribbon Christmas card tree, I picked up a few of the Hallmark cards I’ll be sending to my family this year. I’m a sucker for a great Santa card. Isn’t he jolly in this one! {wink} I’ll be mailing these cuties out, but I know I’ll be getting some pretties back to fill my tree up again!
To make this easy Christmas card holder ribbon tree you’ll just need a few things:
- Hallmark cards
- Hallmark ornament for the topper
- Ribbon (I suggest some with a little tinsel and wire)
- Glue dots or command strips (won’t damage walls if removed carefully)
- Mini clothespins
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Optional: Snowflake or star topper (paper works great!)
- Optional: Gift boxes for a fun embellishment
I chose a Star Wars ornament for my tree topper. My kids can’t get enough this year and I’ve always had an affinity for R2D2. Isn’t he cute!! By the way, there are 16 Walmart ornament exclusives, resin figurines, Holiday Barbie, new deco figurines and more!
Let’s make a DIY Christmas card holder ribbon tree! Here are the easy steps:
- Measure – measure how large you want to make your tree and find the center point.
- Cut – cut each layer to length and cut in half at an equal angle. (There will be a triangle left over from the center.) Cut the ends at an angle as well.
- Make – starting at the bottom add each layer making sure to measure between each layer and keeping the center points aligned. I have 4″ between each layer in mine and each layer is 3″ shorter than the one below it. Attach each layer to your wall with a removable adhesive.
- Topper – add an ornament to the top of your tree.
- Attach – add cards with clothespins as you receive them.
These are a few of my favorites. I just love these little elves. Plus, these cards (which come in a pack) double as cash holders so you can send them to all your family members who prefer cash! {grin}
