We’ve all fallen behind planning a birthday party or forgotten to make school party snacks. Guilty! Well here’s an easy party snack idea, that’s also allergy-friendly, and adaptable for any occasion and you’re going to look so clever because as easy as this is to do, everyone always things they’re so cute.
You all know my youngest has food allergies. What that means is I’m always taking something to a class party or event. I want him to have something to eat, to share, to not feel left out. Anyway, OREOs are his favorite cookie, and that is how this all started. The original OREO has no dairy, no egg, no nut… and yet it’s fun and recognizable by all children. ;) And did you know that yesterday was national OREO cookie day. I’m a day late and a dollar short, but this is still a great idea. Actually I didn’t really think about sharing it until another mom gushed about how super simple, yet cute it was.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- OREOs
- Sprinkles (for the holiday or party theme)
- Icing
- 4″ cello bags
- Washi tape
Super easy, almost non-existent, steps:
- Pipe a dot of icing and attach a sprinkle. I chose hearts because I did these for Valentine’s, but if you visit the holiday section or cake section of your grocery you’ll find the latest. Craft stores are also a great place for sprinkle variety.
- Place two cookies in a 4″ short cello bag.
- Close with washi tape.
Yes, it is that simple and yes they are that cute. I always put all the little packs in a darling basket and carry them into the school that way. I know it sounds crazy… but kids go nuts for OREOS… especially cute ones. ;)
So the next time you’re totally out of time… or even if you’re not and just want something that looks like you put in a little extra effort, without much extra effort, try these. Your snack won’t be one coming back home Rockstar Mom. {wink}
Happy belated National OREO Cookie Day! And as always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
