Each fall I love to decorate my front porch with pumpkins, gourds, and a beautiful fall wreath. It sets such a warm and inviting welcome to all my friends and family. This year I moved and I don’t have a front porch… we’re building though so don’t pity me just yet. {wink} I do however have a small entryway so I embellished my wreath with DIY paper flowers in rich, gorgeous colors of autumn – beautiful oranges, yellows, browns and blues. It will be protected from the elements and stay lovely indoors!
Let’s get crafty and I’ll show you how to make this fall wreath. You’ll need a few things from your local JoAnn Fabric & Craft Store:
- Assorted Fall Cardstock Colors (in store)
- Cricut Design Space
- Cricut Explore Air
- Standard or Heavy Mat for Cricut Explore (12 x 12)
- Cricut Weeding Tool
- Cricut Paper Crafting Tool Set
- Large Vine Wreath
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
- Twine
- Foam Adhesive Squares
Let’s Get Started on Making A Paper Flower Wreath:
1. Design – Start by using my project in Cricut Design Space, or search for flowers and leaves and make your own! Size your florals to fit your wreath. If you’re not sure, I suggest cutting one as a test.
2. Cut & Weed – Now, load cardstock into your machine, cut and weed out excess design. As you pull your leaves and branches from the mat, allow them to curl.
3. Apply – Using hot glue, now attach your paper branches and leaves to twine. Attach them close together and overlapping for a full look. Then hot glue twine to wreath.
4. Add florals – Cut, weed, curl and hot glue flowers next. I suggest layering the flowers with foam adhesive squares to give them a 3-D look. Attach the flowers to the wreath with hot glue.
This wreath, that you can place on your entry table (like I’ve done), hang it on your front door, or place it above your mantel, can be displayed all season long. No matter what you choose, a pretty “WELCOME” sign would be a beautiful touch to add. I’ll share the details on how to make this fun and easy DIY foil welcome sign next week!
As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
