My youngest son is all about Minions. I talked him out of the Minion backpack, but we still had to get the little minion plush to hang on his backpack. (Sidenote, the Minion backpack was cute and all, but didn’t have enough storage for a 3rd grader.) And since OREOs are his favorite cookie (yummy and dairy-free!), we decided to combine the two!
You know how some moms tell their kiddos not to play with their food? Not so much around here! {wink} We like fun food. It makes the kids smile and they get to show their creative side. Plus, it’s yummy to clean up!
For this fun food craft, you’ll just need:
- Golden OREOs
- Candy eyes in large and small (your local craft store or grocery)
- Chocolate icing
- Resealable plastic bag
- Wax paper
- Scissors
And they’re so easy to make:
- Prep – place wax paper down and fill a resealable bag with chocolate icing. Snip one corner of the bag.
- Select faces & eyes – some minions have two eyes and some only have one. Grab several cookies and eyes so you can let your creativity go!
- Pipe – pushing the icing to the snipped corner of the bag, pipe a circle, or two, if you have two eyes, and straps to the edge.
- Place – place the candy eyes in the piped circles and push them down. The icing will squeeze out and form a ring around the candy eye. Much easier than trying to pipe around the eye. Trust me… we tried it both ways. See below. {wink}
