Girl’s Night In – Oscars Viewing Party

Watching the Oscars this year? Why not plan a girl’s night in and host a little “Sip and See” filled with wine, champagne and chocolate… all the Oscar Party entertaining essentials!

Let’s talk details. When setting up a girl’s night in there are certain things you must have covered, namely food and drinks, but don’t forget to set a pretty table too. It only takes a few extra minutes and your guests will feel special. It’s a bit like getting an unexpected gift from a friend. You didn’t know you wanted it, but once you get it you can’t stop talking about it all night. {grin}

Drinks:

I personally like to pick up a variety of wines to serve so I’m sure I have everyone’s likes covered, but I also don’t enjoy overbuying. So instead of getting a couple of large bottles of wine, I pick up a variety of mini bottles of wine and champagne. I even selected a few sparkletinis this time. {wink} World Market makes it easy for me because they have a huge wine selection, including a wall of minis! In addition to being cute, the small sizes also make it easy to have multiple types on ice and ready to go!

The next thing to consider is your glassware. World Market has a new gold brushed stemless wine glass and stemless champagne flute. Aren’t they beautiful? And they’re just the perfect dash of glam for the Oscars.

Food:

Next up are those Oscar party appetizers and I chose to go all chocolate! We’re talking Ghirardelli Intense Dark Sea Salt Soiree, World Market Dark Chocolate Espresso Beans, Pizzelle Italian Waffle Chocolate Cookies, and Dark Chocolate Dipped Sea Salt Chips. I mean, who needs dinner when you have chocolate? That said, this setting could be a great dessert table after a fabulous dinner party too!

Decorations:

When setting a pretty table, it’s all about coordinating your colors and keeping it fun. I chose to go with a combination of gold, silver and black. In addition to the beautiful gold brushed glassware, I picked up the silver platter, silver ice bucket, and white “taste” appetizer service plates, bowls and spoons at World Market. They truly are a one-stop shop when you’re entertaining for adults. For the other items, I made the drink stir sticks, and the table backdrop items with a few craft supplies. Add to that a few gold and silver streamers and some balloons and you’re done!

Want to doll those drinks up a bit? Try a Sparkletini Raspberry Spritzer. It’s amazing, pretty to look at and takes less than a minute to make. You’ll need one mini bottle or Sparkletini, half cup of lemon-lime soda and three raspberries. Enjoy!

Pair this yummy drink idea up with all that chocolate and you have the perfect Oscars Viewing Party in progress.

If you don’t have Oscars plans, a girl’s night in for any occasion is a great idea. Just remember, drinks… food… fun. That’s all you’ll need.
