With only a few days until Christmas I’m excited to be slowing down, watching Christmas movies, wrapping gifts and baking! This year, in addition to gingerbread, sugar and snickerdoodle cookies, we’re making Christmas tree brownies. They’re so easy to make and the kids LOVED decorating them!
I made my Christmas tree brownies three ways. The traditional green icing, white peppermint icing and all white decorations, and a third with paper embellishments. You know me and paper. I just couldn’t resist!
Traditional Christmas Tree Brownies
My kids loved the Wilton Christmas bulb candies we picked up at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores. They made our traditional Christmas tree brownies so darn cute.
You’ll also need the following items depending on which of the three Christmas tree brownies you want to make:
• Wilton Cookie Pan (perfect for shaped brownies)
• Wilton Icing (green, white)
• Wilton Candy Decorations and Sprinkles
• Wilton Green Cupcake Wrappers (available in-stores)
• Peppermint Candy Canes
• Stick Pretzels
• Powdered Sugar
• Brownie Ingredients or Mix
• Circle Cookie Cutter and/or Butter Knife
• Optional: Clear ruler, wax paper (available in-stores)
The biggest thing to know about making these treats, is to maximize the pan. I baked my batter in a edged Wilton cookie sheet so they would be about an inch thick. I used the largest Wilton baking sheet that was available at JoAnn and I was able to get 50 brownies (out of three boxed mixes). Using a ruler, you can make them all the same size… plus you get to eat the edges!
Peppermint Christmas Tree Brownies
My second Christmas tree brownie was peppermint and all white decorations. I have a soft spot for peppermint anything… so these were really for me!
These are made the same way, just pick up Pillsbury peppermint icing, peppermint bits and white decorations.
Paper Craft Christmas Tree Brownies
Finally I made a third Christmas tree brownie, and for this one I was just playing around while the kids decorated the traditional tree brownies and cut a circle brownie. The design just sort of went from there and I made a little video.
They’re really as easy as a circle cutter and folding paper. Cupcake wrapper paper… {wink}
Little 30 second video to show you just how easy it is:
I hope you’ll give one of my three Christmas tree brownie ideas a try.
