Several of us have created Secret Santa gift boxes for each other and are mailing them out as a little surprise just before Christmas. The fun part is we all were tasked with thinking outside the box and creating something amazing with our Cricut Explore. Honestly… I love my Oh Deer! box so much that I’m sad to give it away… but I guess that’s when you know it’s a good gift. {wink}
I wanted to do something for my friend (can’t tell you who yet) that she could use during the Christmas season so I whipped up two mugs, two cookie plates, and two treat bags… and I added a few sweet treats like lolllipops, candy canes and chocolate bells. Want to know how I made them?!
Here are the supplies you’ll need to make each of these gifts:
- Silver glitter iron-on, treat bags
- Silver vinyl, plates and mugs
- Cricut Explore Air
- Standard Grip Cricut cutting mat
- Red plates and mugs
- Mini muslin bags
- 4″ cello bags
- Berry baskets
- Iron
- Design Space graphics
- Optional: Weeding tool
Easy steps for iron-on:
- Design – open the Cricut Design Space file and hide all items except the iron-on items. Modify sizes if necessary. It’s sized for a 3.5 x 5 inch bag.
- Mat – apply the iron on, liner side down, to mat
- Cut – read the directions on the package and mirror image any additions you make. The deer head is the same both ways, but better to always mirror-image so you don’t forget next time. {grin}
- Weed – weed out all the iron-on that isn’t your image.
- Iron – iron your bag to heat up the fabric, place the image with liner on top, iron in 15 second intervals. Only takes a few swipes!
Easy steps for vinyl:
- Design – open the Cricut Design Space file and hide all items except the vinyl for the plates and cups.
- Mat & Cut – apply the vinyl to mat
- Weed – weed out all the vinyl that isn’t your image.
- Apply – I’d typically use transfer paper, but the mug image is so simple and the text for the plates will need to curve with the plate. Take your time and it will look perfect.
I also made a little banner for the top of the box. It’s in the Design Space file too!
