Red velvet peppermint cupcakes… can you believe I gave these away?! Christmas is the season of giving and often times for me, that gift is a sweet treat! I have so many people to thank and recognize, from teachers to church volunteers to our mailman. I try my best to make sure everyone has a little something from the Byers family! That said, in such a busy season, I don’t always have time to bake for family dinners, class parties, and special thank you gifts, so I rely on my grocery bakery to help out!
With such an assortment of goodies, from cupcakes and cookies to donuts and cakes, your local grocery bakery has something for everyone on your list. And since you’re not baking, you can spend a bit of extra time on the packaging, including downloading my free Christmas “Special Delivery” tags. The best part, you can personalize the tags with your family name before you print! (No special program needed. Just the free version of Adobe. Download below.)
Sometimes, you may want to give a bit more than a sweet, like a giftcard. Well, your local grocery has those too. And I’m giving two away! More details in a minute. Let’s first talk about packing up the perfect sweet.
To put together a little gift box like this one, you’ll need a few things:
- Cupcakes from your local grocery bakery
- Peppermint
- Food safe gift box
- Paper gift packaging
- Cardstock
- Special Delivery FREE Printable
- Printer
- Scissors or 3″ circle punch
- Ribbon
- Optional: Jingle bells and foam adhesive squares
The how-to is so easy, especially since you don’t have to bake! From start to finish you need less than 10 minutes!
- Bakery run – stop by the bakery department at your local grocery store and pick up red velvet cupcakes (or you can opt for muffins, cookies, cakes, or pies… pick their favorite!) If you get the red velvet cupcakes, grab some peppermint candies as well. Crush a few and sprinkle on top. If you can find the minis, they make a perfect topper.
- Personalize – open the file, download and move your cursor over the area where the family name should be. A box will come up. Type your name in it. (NOTE: The fill-able feature is not available until you download.)
- Print – print on cardstock.
- Cut – cut or punch out the small labels and optional banner.
- Assemble – place a foam adhesive on the back of the small banner, and attach to the tag for a raised effect.
- Give – place shredded gift wrap in the bottom of the square box, place cupcakes inside allowing the gift wrap to keep the cupcakes from sliding. Attach personalized labels with foam adhesive squares. And add a giftcard if the recipient has been extra good to you!
For me, and maybe it’s my southern heritage, but food pretty much equals love in my book. {wink} Make sure your family and friends know you’re thinking of them this holiday season with this super simple and sweet way to make them smile. And let your local grocery bakery do the heavy lifting!
