Are you in love with plaid for Christmas? Me too! I have so much plaid coming to the blog this season, and much of it is plaid fabric. For today’s craft, I’m sharing super easy upcycling ideas using paint cans and other containers, Elmer’s Extra Strength Spray Adhesive, and oh yes… plaid fabric. {wink}

These fun little crafts only took about 20 minutes to make and cost less than $10! Let’s get crafty and make some Christmas vases!

DIY Project Supplies

You’ll need a few things:

  • Elmer’s Extra Strength Spray Adhesive
  • Plaid Fabric
  • Paint Cans, Pringle Cans, and other containers
  • Cedar Branches
  • Floral Foam
  • Garden Snips
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Optional: Ribbon, Ornaments

Easy DIY Steps

  1. Prep containers and gather supplies – clean containers, removing any contents and any glue or paper off the outside.
  2. Measure and cut – measure each container’s height and circumference. Cut fabric to fit.
  3. Glue – take containers and fabric outside or into a well ventilated area, and spray a small section. Apply the fabric in a straight line, spray another small section and then wrap until the entire container is covered.
  4. Arrange – cut, soak in water and insert floral foam into each container. Snip cedar branches and insert in foam.
  5. Decorate – add ribbons, ornaments, etc.

I’m personally making these for my mantle, as well as for gifts. When I was a little girl we would cut real cedar trees and although they weren’t always perfectly shaped, they smelled amazing!!!
