This is birthday party planning season. The weather is getting nicer, and it’s easier to invite guests over when you don’t have to squash them all into your living room. If you’re looking for a creative and gender neutral birthday party idea, let’s talk art birthday party ideas!
I love this birthday party idea theme for two major reasons: both boys and girls can enjoy it, and it can be as colorful as you want it to be! For this party, I set up an entry table welcoming guests to the party, a simple cake setting doubling as a craft table, a dessert table and a wall with clips so that guests could display their art before they ran off to play. {wink}
Here’s a closer look at all the little details on the dessert table. I hope you find one or two you can replicate for your party!
In addition to the dessert table, I set up a little placesetting for cake and then crafts. My friends at Sweet Tooth Cottage took my art party frame designs and made these lovely little art party cookies as placecards. They used a edible printable paper for the rim design and the cookie is a decadent butter cookie. It’s truly heavenly!
After the cake and cookies, the kids made pretty little craft, 3-D art cupcakes. I took a series of supplies like pom poms, cupcake liners cut in half, ribbon, crepe paper, etc. and let the kids decorate on pre-printed frame canvases. Then we awarded each child with a crepe ribbon using fun things like “most creative.”
You can find all of these Art Party paper goods in my Etsy shop: Invitation, Thank You Notes, Party Supplies (instant download). They can be purchased as a bundle or individually. Just send me a note in Etsy and we’ll get you what you need.
You know, birthday parties don’t always have to be elaborate, but they should be special. Whether that is a homemade cake with family, an elaborate party like this one, or something in between, I hope your child will have a wonderful party and enjoy their big day.
