I have a bit of Halloween candy left over and I’m hording the Butterfinger. I know, I should be generous and send them to the office with my husband, or make a happy box for my neighbor… but nope. I’m keeping my Halloween candy to make these Butterfinger rice krispies treats for my Thanksgiving kid’s table. {grin}
In addition to these amazing Butterfinger treats, I designed some simple “I’m Thankful For…” Thanksgiving coloring sheets (download below) to keep the kids busy while we slave away over a hot oven! Okay… so my mom will be slaving away and I’ll be talking and nibbling whatever she has out on the counter… but you know what I mean. {wink}
We’ll have about six kids for Thanksgiving this year and I know these treats are going to be a big hit! Just hop over to Wal-Mart and pick up a few things:
- Fun Size Butterfinger, 1 bag
- Marshmallow, 1 bag
- Rice krispies cereal, 6 cups
- Peanut butter, 3 tablespoons
- Butter, 1/2 cup
- Chocolate chips, 1/2 cup
- Vegetable oil
Here are the simple steps to make Butterfinger rice krispies treats:
- Chop – cut up one Butterfinger per krispie square
- Cook – heat butter, peanut butter and marshmallows until melted. Mix in rice krispies.
- Layer – spoon half of the mixture into a greased pan, layer 6 chopped Butterfinger, add the rest of the rice krispies mixture.
- Cut – cut pan into equal squares.
- Top – heat chocolate chips and a dash or two of vegetable oil until chocolate pours smoothly. Drizzle over top of treats and top with chopped Butterfinger.
