I love a monogram and right now they’re all the rage down South as wreaths. I just went for a quick visit to see my dad and brother and let me tell you… almost every door had a monogram wreath of some sort hanging from it! You can say I was inspired to create this DIY Moss Monogram Wreath! {grin}
For those of you that hang out crafting with me, you know how very much I love a hot glue gun. Well, do I have a treat for you! Elmer’s, you know… the glue experts, just came out with a hot glue gun (without the hot mess!) and I’m ecstatic! Although I love a hot glue gun, I strongly dislike that spiderweb of glue that you have to pick off. Elmer’s worked some magic and this new glue gun doesn’t string. Really… no strings! I actually threw away my old glue gun! Plus Elmer’s has glue sticks that are twice the length of normal glue sticks!
Now let’s get crafty and let me show you how to make this easy monogram wreath! You’ll need:
- Elmer’s Craft Bond Hot Glue Gun (available at Michael’s)
- Elmer’s Less Mess All Temp Glue Sticks (available at Michael’s)
- Wooden (or paper) monogram
- 2 rolls of moss
- Ribbon
- Wreath (foam, vine, fabric)
And if you want to make it seasonal like me, you’ll need:
- Red, orange, yellow and brown cardstock
- Silver and gold pens
- Die cut machine or template and scissors
And these are the easy steps to whip up this simple monogram wreath:
- Glue – First cut strips of moss to line up with the monogram and adhere with hot glue making sure to fill in any deadspots.
- Cut – Next cut your ribbon to length.
- Hang – Now hang wreath at desired length, and hang interior monogram
- Embellish – Finally embellish your wreath with paper leaves. A drop of hot glue and they’ll hang on to the vines! (Note: I would not use hot glue to adhere the leaves to the wall. Hot glue is for more permanent projects
In the same fashion, I hung the monogram alone but added a touch of plaid. I LOVE plaid right now! Isn’t it pretty just by itself?! In fact you can change up the wreath type and still use your new moss monogram for every season. I plan to make a black, white and green Christmas wreath… oh and a Easter wreath. How fun will this moss be for Easter!
