Bunny shaped Rice Krispies Treats are the perfect addition to any Easter celebration or Easter basket. Trust me when I tell you, your kids and guests will snack them up in minutes… as soon as they get over how cute they are that is. Wanna make them with me? {grin}
They’re really very easy, especially when you use the premade Rice Krispies Treats. I show them in the mini jars because we put them on our Easter table, but if you want to put them in Easter baskets, or take them to parties, they fit nicely in 4″ cello bags and tied around the straw. You can find the cello bags, as well as several of the other items at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.
For the Easter bunnies, you’ll need a few things:
- 12 Rice Krispies Treats snack packs
- 20 white Wilton chocolate wafer melts, or cake icing for a dairy-free version* (available at Jo-Ann)
- Pink Wilton heart cake decorating candies (available at Jo-Ann)
- Coconut
- Resealable plastic bag
- Toothpick
- Wax paper
- Lollipop sticks (available at Jo-Ann)
- Paper straws (available at Jo-Ann)
- Funmallows
Whip them up in minutes with these easy steps:
- Shape – Trace the size of a Rice Krispies Treat onto a sheet of paper. Cut it out and use the size to make a simple template of bunny ears, leaving room for a half face (as shown).
- Cut – Cut the bunny shape out with a sharp knife.
- Fill – Fill a resealable bag with 7 white chocolate wafer melts, heat in microwave in 8 until melted. Snip off one corner of the bag and outline the treat.
- Heat – Heat the remaining chocolate in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl and slowly spoon it into the center of the Rice Krispies Treat.
- Pull – Pull the chocolate to the edges with a toothpick.
- Add – Add upside down heart candy and coconut whiskers.
- Optional: Carefully insert lollipop sticks and slip inside paper straws. Stand inside a dessert glass filled with funmallows to display.
In addition to the bunnies, I also made Rice Krispies Treats carrots. I mean, you gotta have bunny food if you’ve got bunnies, right?! {wink}
I’ll share the full tutorial later this week.
Thanks for hanging out with me and making fun food! And as always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate!
