A few months ago a craft of mine, wine cork gift wrap, was featured in All You magazine. The challenge was to work with a wine cork, or many, and I made this little guy during that process. In the end, I used the gift wrap images and idea for the magazine article, but I’m still really proud of my reindeer ornament. {smile}
Want to make a reindeer wine cork Christmas ornament for your tree? This is what you’ll need:
- 2 Corks, $0.00 (upcycled)
- 2 Paper Straws, $0.20
- Holiday Floral Wire with Berries, $.99
- White Pom Pom, $.99 for a bag
- Red White Baker’s Twine, $1.99
- Tools – Hot glue
And the easy how to steps to make your own wine cork reindeer:
- Cut straws. Four 1.5” pieces for legs, .5” piece for neck, and two .4” pieces for ears (trim at slant to make pointy ears).
- Attach legs, neck, ears and pom pom tail with hot glue.
- Attach half of a full size cork or small stopper cork for the reindeer head with hot glue.
- Cut 5” piece of floral wire, wrap around head and curve at equal lengths for antlers. Attach with hot glue.
- Trim one berry from floral wire and hot glue on head for reindeer nose.
- Cut a 5” length of baker’s twine, attach the center point of the twine to the back of the reindeer ornament and hang.
Crafting time: 15 minutes plus drying time
