Pineapple Strawberry Shakes Perfect For The Fourth of July

Our family celebrates the 4^th of July in a big way each year and that means lots of food and friends. This year, we’re making these amazing Pineapple Strawberry Shakes!

There’s nothing quite like a nice cold treat for those long summer days, and these are not only yummy but healthy too! I used DOLE® Canned 100% Pineapple Juice as the base instead of milk for that refreshing exotic island taste. It’s non-GMO and naturally gluten-free. Perfect for summer treats! Plus, instead of ice cream, I used strawberry sorbet. I have a child with dairy allergies, so this recipe will become a staple in our summer menu!

Let’s make a few! You can whip these shakes up in just minutes. You’ll need:

• 1 cup DOLE® Canned 100% Pineapple Juice
• 1 cup DOLE® Frozen Pineapple Chunks
• 5 fresh Strawberries
• 1 pint Strawberry Sorbet
• Optional: Whip Cream
• Blender

(Recipe makes three 12 oz. shakes.)

Easy how-to steps:

1. Pour pineapple juice in blender and scoop in sorbet.
2. Add pineapple chunks and strawberry halves.
3. Blend until desired texture (we like ours a bit chunky).
4. Serve in glasses with a dollop of whip cream and a strawberry.

It’s that easy and the kids really enjoy helping scoop and pour so it becomes a family affair. I plan to serve these on the 4^th of July after the kids exhaust themselves in the sprinklers and water balloon fights. {wink}
