Gobble! Gobble! Thanksgiving is only a day away and you need to occupy your kiddos while the turkey cooks and bustle around the kitchen! Eeek! No worries, my latest Thanksgiving Turkey Rice Krispies Treats Pull-A-Part cake project for Kellogg’s has you covered!

Kid Craft: Thanksgiving Turkey Rice Krispies Treat Cake | Kim Byers, TheCelebrationShoppe.com

Let’s make a Thanksgiving Turkey Rice Krispies Treats Pull-A-Part Cake!

You’ll need:

  • 21 Rice Krispies Treats snack packs
  • M&Ms, 2 brown and 3 yellow
  • 1 red fruit leather
  • Pretzel rods
  • Melting chocolate, orange and brown*
  • Autumn color sixlets or other candies
  • Food safe paint brush*
  • Wax paper

*found in the cake/candy section of grocery and craft stores

Follow these easy assembly steps:

  1. First, arrange the Rice Krispies Treats on a sheet of wax paper as shown: body of turkey (three rows of 5), head of turkey (2) and feathers (4). Trim the corners (rounding the Treats) on the top and bottom row of the body and on the head as shown.
  2. Next, microwave 8-10 light brown melting chocolates in a microwave safe bowl in 10 second increments until melted. Using a food safe paint brush, paint the top of the Rice Krispies Treats arranged for the body.
  3. Swirl the chocolate a little with the paint brush to give the turkey body a feather look.
  4. Microwave 8-10 orange melting chocolates in a microwave safe bowl in 10 second increments until melted. Using a food safe paint brush, paint the edges of the Rice Krispies Treats arranged for the feathers. Paint the interior of the feather with the light brown. (TIP: This is where the kids can get creative and use more colors and patterns on the feathers. Melting chocolates come in red and yellow too!)
  5. Place the turkey head in the center of the middle row.
  6. Using the light brown melting chocolates, paint the turkey head Rice Krispies Treats.
  7. Add the M&M eyes. Trim away the excess wax paper.
  8. Add the M&M beak, fruit leather wattle and pretzel rod legs.

Serve your turkey on a lipped platter or shallow baking pan and embellish with autumn sixlets or other candies to extend the feathers and the body. In addition to being cute, it’s a very yummy way to snack while the turkey roasts! {grin}
